"President Yoon Suk-yeol Commits to Advancing Science and Technology through Global Collaboration"
President Yoon Suk-yeol, in his keynote address at the opening ceremony of the recent concert, made a significant commitment to the advancement of science and technology through global collaboration. He stated, "Science and technology can flourish even more through global cooperation. I will actively support young scientists in conducting research and challenging themselves alongside the world's leading researchers in outstanding research institutions." This pledge is poised to make a notable contribution to the globalization of science and technology and the encouragement of international collaboration among young researchers.
During this event, I witnessed the resonance among Korean scientists from various countries on the importance of international cooperation in the field of science and technology. Through this event, we collectively emphasized the value and significance of international knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Furthermore, I, along with other Korean scholars, expressed concerns about the tendency for outstanding students to gravitate primarily towards the field of medicine. In particular, we addressed the current uncertainty regarding compensation in the field of science and technology in South Korea. It was stressed that this uncertainty should be clarified, and diversity should be ensured. We encourage diverse pathways and a secure compensation system in the field of science and technology.
